SGUSD Celebrates National Arts in Education Week

September 13-19, 2020 is National Arts in Education Week, and SGUSD will be celebrating online giving insider views of our amazing arts classes, integrated arts lessons, and featuring some of our teachers and students throughout the week.

Do you participate in an Arts Class in SGUSD? How has it impacted your life? Is there an Arts teacher you would like to honor? Right now, more than ever, it is important that we raise our voices to share with the world how integral to education the arts are. An Arts Equity district, San Gabriel Unified is proud to support the Arts in Education.

We want to hear from you! Create a video and tell the world what the arts means to you. Tell us about an arts teacher that impacted your life, or a class that inspired you. Tell us why you continue to participate in the arts at school, or where your experience has led you. We'd LOVE to hear about it and share it with our community! Click HERE to upload your video.

National Arts in Education Week is a celebration recognizing the transformative power of the arts in education and takes place annually after the second Sunday of September. Passed by Congress in 2010 through House Resolution 275, the celebration is designated to bring attention to this cause for elected officials and educational decision makers across the country and to support equitable access to the arts for all students.

This year, more than ever, it is important to continue to send the message to all that the arts is and imperative part of a well rounded education. Though SGUSD continues to support a strong arts curriculum as an integral part of our students' experience in our district, many neighboring cities and states have drastically cut back in their arts programming. Let us all raise our voices and celebrate the transformative value of the arts!
