Roosevelt Mariachis Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
The newly formed Mariachi Ensemble from Roosevelt Elementary School performed today twice! First at the Kaiser Permanente of Baldwin Hills Farmers Market, and later at the Pine Grove Health and Wellness Center. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla. Today, the date marks a holiday that is widely observed in America as a celebration of Mexican heritage. Our students did a wonderful job helping others to celebrate!
